About Us
We are the Walnut Grove Freewill Baptist Church established in 1880 in Lawrence County Kentucky. We are approximately 17 miles South of Louisa, Ky, and about 13 miles North of Paintsville, Ky., located just off US 23 South, on a strip of old US 23, at Ulysses. We belong to the Lawrence County Quarterly Conference of Freewill Baptist. The Freewill Baptist have their own Treatise and By-Laws. However, our Doctrine is based upon the Bible, which is the Word of God. We believe in and use the old fashioned King James Version of the Holy Scriptures. Walnut Grove still stands as a “Soul Saving Station” in our community. The Bible says, “Ye must be born again.” Jesus said in the book of Luke (13:3),”except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” We still believe the only way to Heaven is for God to convict us of our sins or call upon our hearts and let us know that we are lost and away from Him. We must be sorry that we ever sinned against God, sorry enough to want to quit, in other words, we must repent of our sins. We don't have to list our sins when we ask his forgiveness, he is God, he already knows what we've done. Also, we must believe that Jesus Christ IS the Son of God, and that He left Heaven to come to Earth and be born of a virgin. He hung on an old rugged Cross, where He shed his Blood for our sins. That He died and was placed in a borrowed tomb. And thanks be to God, that He arose from the dead the third morning. And is alive forever. Jesus said in the book of Revelation Chapter 1, verse 18, “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore.” If we are convicted or called by God to be Saved, believe He died and got up from the grave (the Gospel), and repent of our sins, Then we can be SAVED! Romans 10, verses 8-10 says, “...The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10.For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Once we've met these conditions, we need to tell the world that Jesus has saved us and that we are on our way to Heaven. Sounds like a drawn out process, but really, all this can happen in the blink of your eye. If you need prayer or have questions about getting saved, we would love to hear from you.
